Hollywood Writers Strike Emboldening DVD Pirates and Helping Fraudsters Steal from Industry

Many Hollywood Industry analysts are starting to worry about how the Hollywood TV and Movie Writer's strike will harm the future financial viability of the industry. As the TV and Movie Industry is losing market share to the Internet and much of it's advertising revenues, a prolonged strike could wipe out quarters of future profits.

These profits, it is possible may never return. The writers will be able to get other work elsewhere even after they severely damage the industry and cost hundreds of thousands of LA's best and brightest workers out of work and into bankruptcy and foreclosure. But the writers may not realize that the Internet has its own writers, who work for quite a bit less and there are 250,000 of them and the Hollywood former writers will have to compete and the competition is tough.

Worse, with less content on TV available there will be more pirating to meet that demand and Hollywood could lose billions to pirates of DVDs, video and other copyrighted content. The demand for now is high and if the legitimate Hollywood cannot maintain its volume and output, then the pirates will and the rest of the consumers of TV and film will migrate to the Internet, never to return.

Is Hollywood at a turning point and a crossing a pivotal cross-roads? If so, if and when it all crashes the Hollywood Writers who will be out of work or forced to work for pennies on the dollar, will only have themselves to blame. Of course, the rest of the Hollywood workers will also blame them, as will I.
